TUBITAK 1001 (2024-2025): Predicting crop yields for Turkey’s provinces using long-run agronomic and climatic variables
The two-year project aims to develop crop-yield prediction models Turkey’s provinces. First, I will look into the the temporal and regional trends of major crops using the historical time series data since the 1930s. I will test the yield-plateau thesis, which has been a subject of debate in the literature. Second, I will develop predictive models for crop yields using economic, agronomic and climate variables using spatial econometrics and Machine Learning techniques.
